NEW DELHI, APRIL 28 (ENA) Vrunda Rathi, the All India Rank (AIR) 1 in Girls’ category from Nashik, Maharashtra, is a student of Loknete Vyankatrao Hiray Arts, Science and Commerce College who is also an accomplished classical Flute player.

With an impressive score of 312/360, Vrunda wants to study at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore over the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Her intention is to pursue her Bachelor in Science (BSc) from IISc, Bangalore, as she aspires to be a Researcher.

Rathi’s mother received a call from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Chairman R.K. Chaturvedi, congratulating her on her daughter's performance.

When asked as to how she feels about being a topper, Vrunda says, “I started preparing for JEE Main from class 11, I think if one is dedicated and determined towards cracking JEE, two years are sufficient. I studied at IITians Pace, Nashik branch for two years, and apart from that, I did self-studies at home. Whenever my routine would become stressful, I played the flute to relax, and it always helped. I want to become a Researcher in the field of Science, and IISc Bangalore will give me that opportunity. I believe the IITs are better for Engineering”, she adds.

Rathi scored 321 out of 360 marks in JEE Main 2017, with 105 in Physics, 106 in Chemistry and 110 in Mathematics. Her overall AIR is 71.
